Breakfast at pelican cafe is amazing. There doughnuts are fabulous but you have to get there early or they run out. I love everything on the breakfast menu because I'm a big fan of quality breakfasts. This is over the top. I just finished lunch which was mahi-mahi fish tacos. They were without a doubt the best I have ever had. I wish I took a picture but I forgot because they were so good. The mahi was served blackened and with a fabulous sauce. The owner is fantastic and will jump through hoops to make sure your dining experience is perfect. Even if that means providing you with a sweater to stay warm while sitting outside on cool florida nights.

Delicious! The free donuts at the start of our meal were awesome. The coffee was hot. Main meal of crab cake Benedict rocked. Must eat here again.

We went to the pelican cafe after going many times before and it was not as good as the other times. We didn't get the right toast which wasn't a very big deal. But then one of us never got their dish. We decided to give it another try and it was better than the last time but still not great. One of us had the French toast and it was good on the outside but dry bread on the inside. I must say that the doughnuts that they bring out are delicious. And maybe it has changed a little bit.

Great breakfast. Fresh OJ, homemade doughnuts, best pancakes in Palm Beach County. After church breakfast will be Pelican from here on out. Oh and the chorizo - o'le...

Had Rez for 7:30 last night and seated us immediately.Brought our own wine and they were very reasonable with the corkage fee..THEn it all began. Waiter was very nice, explained specials etc and disappeared for 20 minutes.Came back took order and we didn't get appetizers until 8:30, Main dishes didn't arrive until 9:20 after waiter and owner apologized half dozen times. On fact, owner brought bowls of soup as an apology, although None of us wanted it. When the food arrived it was very good, but we had lost our appetites. Again owner apologized by giving us a complimentary bottle of wine. Nice gesture but still upsetting. So, without the issues would have given 4-5 stars.Being generous with three given the bad kitchen delivery issues.

Decent brunch. Nothing fantastic. Prices are at a premium. 3.50 for a cup of drip coffee. $9 for a single mimosa. 13 for eggs Benedict. The food is fine and service is ok, but you can get just as good a hundred other places for cheaper.

Not a cheap eat, but it was a nice treat. They brought out fresh, flavored donuts for our table. The plate was big. We sat outside and the view was nice. All in all, it was a good restaurant. P.S. They had hand scrub in the ladies' restroom and it was very moisturizing. Bottom line: would I revisit? Yes :)

Great food! Traditional eggs Benedict, veggie egg white omelet, coffee, decadent donut bites appetizer. All delicious. Quaint, nicely decorated. Probably not a good place for little kids who need to make noise and run around.

The food was amazing!!! Great brushetta and grouper fish! The chocolate molten cake with icecream was OKAY, definitly not worth the price. Service was great and very cute scenery. Maybe a little overpriced but I'd definitly revisit!

Pelican Café used to deserve 5 stars, but after brunch on Sunday, I would give 0 starts if I could. I made a reservation and some of my party were running late, I advised the hostess who did say she couldn't hold the reservation for too long, but would seat us as soon as we came in. I understand. After that is when the "wheels fell off". We were seated outside on the patio and even though the reservation said a toddler and we would need a high chair, and the hostess saw the toddler, and I reminded them of needing a high chair, we had to wait for one. Then came the service. IT WAS HORRIBLE!!! no donuts on the table, we had to flag down two waitresses to get a drink order taken, waited forever for our drinks, had to reflag down the waitress to take our order and ask for the donuts. When the donuts came there were 4, there were 4 adults and said toddler. We asked for a 5th donut for the toddler, were told she would "be right back with that" and we NEVER saw her again until I found her to get our check. The food was ok, but the pancakes and French toast was NOT cooked through and "silver dollar pancakes" for the toddler were as big as the plate. We sent the French toast back with another waitress (again, didn't see ours) and the second round was even more undercooked! I had to find the waitress for our check and did get her to remove the French toast. It was a disaster of a meal and we will not be going back. this was one of our favorite spots.

If you are wondering why you are not doing any business for breakfast it is the PRICE! $3.50 for a cup of coffee, guess what- the doughnut is not complimentary. $40.00 for breakfast for two without meat is outrageous except on the Ocean at the Breakers. Get serious and talk to an economist about the Law of Diminishing Returns.

Best breakfast! Homemade doughnuts and Benedict are 2nd to none. I thought salmon Benedict was best until we went back and tried the Crab Cake.

Excellent food, pleasant environment, terrific friendly service. We both ordered breafast, both were delicious and we're anxious to return for dinner and then lunch. A wee bit pricey, but worth it. Very worth it.

A bit on the fancy side. Service was extremely friendly. Food and drink were delicious. I had eggs florentine and a bloody mary. I didn't care for the homemade donuts.

My husband and I stopped in in a Saturday for breakfast because it received great reviews and we're trying to find new places to eat. We we got our seat without waiting, the place is cute old house and I noticed it was clean and looked elegant. a little slow to come to the table after being seated, but the waitress did come, took our drink order and brought 2 delicious donuts. They were very good. The food is pricey for the serving sizes. I thought they were very high for breakfast. My husband order an omelet, his comment was the the eggs were the fluffyist he's ever had but not much there, with potatoes and toast. I had French toast, 3 slices of egg bread, not big either. with 2 coffees the bill was $40. that's a lot of money for breakfast and we walked away still hungry. To much money for us. Try it, but be prepared for a costly breakfast.

Four of us really enjoyed a nice breakfast today. It was definitely a cut above for morning enjoyment! Great customer service and food preparation!

Meh. Overpriced for just ok breakfast food. I like the gimmick of a donut for the table, but this one didn't taste fresh. Also, in Florida, overlooking the beautiful mango trees, I find it a shame to not have fresh, local fruit in the fruit salad. The benedict was decent, the ambiance quirky and lovely. Overall, however, not worth the high price for breakfast.

  • Gero M.

Overall, quite good. We had blueberry pancakes and the classic French toast. Pancakes are the thin style, and very good. French toast was good. Coffee tasted like it was from a gas station. They say the orange juice is fresh squeezed, but I am confident it is not. Looked like and tasted like concentrate. Hostess was very pleasant. Waitress was pleasant and sufficiently attentive.

  • Cass M.

The service was was good and the staff friendly. The food not so much. I ordered blueberry pancakes and they were the size of my plate which was huge, but they were way undercooked. It was mushy and I quickly lost my appetite. I would recommend getting something else on the menu if you go here.

    (3)
  • Kelly R.

Food was good but overpriced. Mimosa was too heavy on the orange juice. Service was poor. We sat at the bar and the space next to me was never bussed even when someone new sat there! Many spots in the restaurant were not bussed as well.

Still great! Top end breakfast in town. Fresh omelettes - had the smoked salmon, capers, herbed cream cheese with very good coffee.

Doughnuts amazing...and the filet benedict was to die for! My boyfriend had chorizo on his omelet and it was some of the best I've had. Will definitely return.

I happened to be heading to WPB and traveled a few exits north by accident (GPS). I was starving and this was the only non-fast food restaurant around. I saw the linen from the street. It had parking overloads in the Drs office and in the back and boy it needed it! I sat down and the waitress Carolyn promptly brought us doughnuts (chocolate and apple). The coffee was the best I have ever had. It apparently is specially made for them! I ate the everything bagel with lox, red onion, etc. It was very fresh. Everything was delicious. The price was very reasonable considering the quality of the food! I will venture back on purpose next time!

This place is fantastic both for brunch and dinner. For brunch, the made on site blueberry or old fashioned donut is a must! And the crab cake Benedict YUM! Dinner accompanied by live music on weds nights is a special treat. My steak was delicious. I am never disappointed by the food and the staff is super friendly.

We've lived nearby the restaurant for a few years, but never went until the other evening. If you're looking for fine dining in a pleasant setting, at fair prices...this is the place. We had a party of eight on an evening where the place was packed. I'd say the service by Chad, our waiter was excellent. The food took a while to start arriving, and the restaurant is rather loud. Neither of these factors should dissuade you from a great dining experience.

  • Catalina B.

The place is nice, looks elegant and it's relaxing ambience makes it look interesting. Food is good but nothing out of this world. I could give 5 stars to the homemade doughnuts which are very very yummi specially the sour cream. Prices are a lil high for breakfast food.. As I said nothing very special. I would go back, maybe to have some doughnuts to go :)

Went here for Sunday brunch. Nice location , easy parking and they are dog friendly. Had a delicious crab cake eggs Benedict which was awesome. They even give you free house made donuts, yumm! A must go for brunch if you are in the area. Friendly and attentive service, great food , good prices and free donuts , need I say more?

We arrived before they opened not knowing there hours changed in the off season. They let us in and accommodated us and we're very sincere. The waitress was really kind and helpful. I got the filet mignon eggs Benedict which was delightful. Great atmosphere with great food is five stars in my book.

One of the finest Italian meals we have ever had. Each dish was obviously created with true stock ingredients and were not overly spiced with salt and garlic like so many restaurants do. The food here was better than LaSirena, and that's saying a lot. The veal was amazing, porcini ravioli was light and spectacular, and even the lentil soup and simple Ceasar salad was the best I've ever had. Make a reservation though, and be careful of the drivers in the tight parking lot.

Crab cake Eggs Benedict, and roasted potatoes was awesome. They didn't have doughnuts when we were there though since it was off season.

I love the Pelican for breakfast and of course their amazing Indian food, which is only served on Friday nights. It is a local hole in the wall that offers friendly, no fuss service. The breakfast is delicious and fresh. My favorite is the lamb keema omelet or the eggs benny or the whole wheat blueberry pancakes. I am Indian from England so if there any Brits out their looking for a good "curry" go to the Pelican on Friday night. You will not be disappointed.

My boyfriend and I ate here for the first time today. I heard many good things about it so we gave it a try. WOW! The banana walnut french toast was FANTASTIC!! The staff is extremely polite and attentive, and you can tell that they really love their jobs and customers. The coffee was great, and their homemade doughnuts are delicious! Can't wait to eat here again and try another dish !

Great restaurant within a house that has been decorated to the hilt. Food is excellent and coffee good. Service was a little slow but we were in no hurry. The highlight of the breakfast was homemade donuts. These are the best I have ever had. ( I am not a donut lover) Enjoyed out food and found the owner and the sister of the owner to be warm and friendly. Serves lunch--try the pizza and dinner.

I am not a "foodie" or a reviewer, but an everyday person who enjoys a great meal and good service. I had both! We live over an hour away, but were in the area around dinner time so our friend we suggested we meet there. She had eaten at the Pelican a couple of times and raved about it. We were not disappointed with anything! Once I heard about the grouper special, with all of my favorites, a reduction of lemon/butter, wild mushroom risotto and sauteed spinach, I knew there was no reason to look at the menu (even though I did). We started with the calamari appetizer, which had a tangy/sweet/hot sauce on it. It was fabulous! A great combination of flavors, very tender and tasty. The grouper was grilled, perfectly cooked, moist and delicious. The risotto and spinach were also perfectly prepared and presented. My husband had the linguine with white clam sauce. Both clams in the shell and chopped clams. A LOT of them! He raved about it and sopped up the sauce with the crusty bread that was served when we were seated. We were all full but decided to split a piece of the cheesecake. The waiter told us the owner's mother baked the cheesecake served with black cherry sauce. The cheesecake was incredibly light and fluffy, but creamy and tasty. Just enough sweetness from the graham cracker crust and tang from the lemon zest. I can't wait to go there again and try new dishes. It will be difficult to try something different when these items were so good!

Fantastic dinner and service. Mark who is the owner and Executive Chef takes great pride in his restaurant. Butternut Squash stuffed Ravioli with grilled shrimp was outstanding. Meatballs to die for, just like my Italian grandmother used to make! Heirloom Tomato Salad had a perfect, light balsamic dressing. I would also highly recommend the grilled calamari appetizer. Not inexpensive but well worth it as the food was delicious.

We were there on a Sat morning at 9:00 a.m. There was only 1 other table. It's off season so I would guess that had something to do with it. It might also be the fact that it's expensive for breakfast. Most breakfast's were over $8. You did get a free donut but coffee was $2.50.

The Pelican Cafe brings a smile to one's face before one even enters the door. Guests, okay customers, are greeted with a light, natural floral smell - jasmine, I think - upon exiting their vehicles in the parking lot. The entrance looks like the front porch to a home where everyone is always welcome. Stepping inside, we were greeted by a hostess, who I later learned is one of the restaurant's owners. She took the time to ask about our day and chitchat a minute about the weather before showing us to our seats. Her smile and her interest were genuine. Service was friendly and bustling as well as attentive without being intrusive. As locals wandered in to the restaurant, we got a feel for the homey atmostphere enjoyed by patrons. It wasn't only the decor, it was the way the staff interacted with people - like they were family or at least good friends stopping by for a visit. We ordered the Egg White Frittata and the Blueberry Pancakes along with cappachinos. The Egg White Fittata tasted really good but be prepared for a hearty serving of spinach in it. The Blueberry Pancakes were excellent. As we left, the co-owner who'd greeted us as we entered invited us back with a large smile. It felt more like leaving a party than a restaurant. I love places that make you smile whenever you think of them, and The Pelican Cafe is certainly that. Southern hospitality at its best permeates this inviting restaurant.

Came here for brunch today with three friends. The donuts were amazing and they are complimentary. I ordered an omelette and chocolate chip pancakes. One person ordered the crab egg Benedict. Another person ordered just scrambled eggs and bacon and the last person ordered an egg white omelette and pancakes. Perfect Bloody Marys and screwdrivers. Service was warm and friendly. Everything was delicious! Would highly recommend this place for bunch if you are near by.

Food is good but the staff is idiotic. Can't remember egg whites vs regular eggs. Time of service is horrendous and the price is absurd for breakfast. Family of 4 and bill was over $100. Wouldn't waste your time.

What a wonderful experience. My friends and I missed the Rivera Beach floating restaurant because of their Friday sunset dinner cruise. We checked Yelp and fortunately found a recommendation for The Pelican Cafe. It was a fabulous find. Super friendly staff, excellent reception, white table clothes, great list of specials, expertly described by maitre de Wesley and coordinated by each team member. The wine list is extensive and the food was sumptuous! The Italian chopped salad, Mama's Sunday Pasta and the pizza were completely authentic. Because we were finishing a month long yachting cruise we needed a taxi. Yellow Cab turned out to be totally useless at 9:15 pm on a Friday evening. After a 45 minute wait, with three follow-up phone calls, Wesley came to our rescue and drove us back to the marina. What service! We will be back and hope Yelp members do the same.

The Pelican Cafe is a little renovated house located in Lake Park. I love the atmosphere of this place! The owner is normally there and is friendly and attentive to all dinners. Hands down, my favorite lunch is the chicken parm sandwich. The sauce is perfect! We have only been there for dinner on one occasion, we both got filet and it was tender and juicy. The hummus they serve is amazing. This place is worth the visit, but it is on the higher side for prices, but I feel it is well worth it.

RUDE hostess, slow and neglectful service. Not sure if we were purposely treated us like lepers or if they treat everyone with tattoos this way. Worst dining experience I've ever had in the area. Mediocre food...if you're going to pay $50 for breakfast, at least go somewhere friendly.

Pass on the Pelican. First off, the tables are jammed together. You might as well sit with random people because you can hear their entire conversation as well as they can hear yours. All of their food is sweet, it really didn't matter what it was, it all tasted like a candy stick. The pancakes were more like crepes and came out at room temperature while the plate was red hot, yes this is what happens when you leave stuff under a heat lamp. The highlight of my dining experience, was when the check came. It was thirty something dollars and I thought to myself this is pretty ridiculous, I could have just gone to the candy store for so much cheaper. Anyways I put a hundred dollar bill in along with the check and attempted to pay. The waitress asked if I had anything smaller because they could not break the hundred. Meanwhile I'm thinking to myself, this is a Sunday at 10:30am and the place is packed. So I bring this up to our waitress who then tells me that no one pays with cash, everyone uses a card and they don't even have a cash register. I checked on the way out for any signs that suggested they were a "card only" place, but couldn't find one. Hmmm.....

Don't walk, run AWAY from this place. This review is for dinner service (although it is safe to say I won't return to try breakfast or lunch...) Their tag line is "Come to Pelican Cafe, the better dining experience." I'm not sure what it's better than, maybe McDonalds? SYNOPSIS: The owner's are trying to be a fine dining restaurant by night and a fun funky breakfast place by day. Oh, and also lunch... They have taken on WAY too much and have WAY too large a menu. This means WAY to much overhead which gets passed on to the diners as far too of high prices for ingredients that are lower quality than they could be. My advice: this place has an identity crisis and is run by owners who are too short sited to see that are in WAY over their heads. If you want to hear the Morbidity & Mortality on our visit, read on. EXPERIENCE: SERVICE (when you can get it...& comes with free insults!): We went a few nights ago for my MIL's 60th birthday because she saw the write up in the TGIF section of the Palm Beach Post which said Pelican Cafe is perfect for a special occasion. The experience we had at was special in the sense that I will never forget how awful it was. Below is exactly how our experience went and everything is absolutely true. (my disclaimer as the owners attack people who have written less than stellar reviews on TripAdvisor calling them "slanderers" and likened them to criminals, go look it up...) We were seated at a table near the bar, seemingly the only one large enough to fit our party of 5 (the place is in a tiny old house). The table had paper Happy Birthday napkins which was nice of them, but isn't "fine dining." After our waiter bragged about the write up in the paper saying, "Well, we DESERVE it!!" he took our drink order at which time my MIL revealed that I had also recently had a birthday (no one revealed my age). The waiter looked me right in the eye and said, "Well I see we're 29 YET again!!" I was so humiliated, I couldn't even look up as he read the specials (I'm only frickin' 33 and I still get carded, geeze!) It was also during this moment that the owner, (*wearing very wrinkled shirt and shorts(!!), seated at the bar directly adjacent our table, stuffing his face with fettuccine Alfredo*), interrupted to say it was his mother's birthday soon as well. His mouth was full of food as he spoke. Gross. Service was OK for the first 45 minutes or so, but once the place got slammed by 7:30, we realized the 3 waiters on staff were also tagging in & out as the only bartender!! This clearly doesn't work as we had to wait very long intervals to place and receive orders. Also, a couple who sat at the bar right next to our table waited about 15-20 minutes without anyone even greeting them. The man started shouting and swearing at the waitstaff and owner as they stormed out. The place is basically 1 room so yeah, everyone heard it. Special occasion, anyone?? FOOD (Or was it?): This is what we ordered: Calamari: Grilled...$10.95 - the parts that weren't burnt to a crisp were pretty good. Summer Salad Special...somewhere around $10 - watermelon, shaved ricotta salata, hazelnuts, balsamic. Not bad. Veal Scaloppini: Prepared Francaise, Picatta or Marsala style w/potato & vegetable ....$33.95 My in laws said it was pretty good but not worth the price. I felt bad an animal died for this dish... Chicken Parmesan: Red sauce & side of pasta...$23.95 - Unbelievably expensive for a chicken parm that tasted like it could be served in a cafeteria. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't worth the price tag. The side of pasta tasted just like what we had in the dorms in college. Terrible. Lobster Ravioli: San Marzano Pomodoro cream sauce...$25.95 My mom's entree, this was the biggest rip off of all, slimy ravioli with filling that looked grey and the "lobster" on top after closer inspection was quite obviously chopped up shrimp. Appalling. Shrimp Francaise: Lemon, white wine, egg wash, served w/potato & veg. (or side pasta)...$27.95 This was my entree, first off the shrimp wasn't even breaded, it was just steamed, but this allowed me to see the brown spots on the meat... When I pulled 2 of the potatoes apart and a clear, sticky goo stretched out from several points... The only thing I could stomach was the broccoli which, of course, was over cooked. DESSERT (I think they served us the rubber ones meant for display only...) Chocolate Cake appox. $7-$9, this was straight up inedible. The cake was hard and dry and tasked fake, the "ice cream" was obviously not even real, it tasted like fat free frozen plastic. Something else we couldn't eat... Cappuccino $4.95 - Wasn't even drinkable. It was literally hot water with a drop of coffee and hot skim milk foamed on top. The milk also didn't taste right. I sent it back immediately, or that is to say 20 minutes later when our waiter returned. Coffee $3 or so - TERRIBLE. Watered down, gross. Who can't make a cup of coffee?
